You Need a Practical Strategy
According to everything I read, the economic chaos in the US is going to last a while. At this point, lots of people are feeling the pinch of rising energy and food prices, and a feeling of uncertainty, no matter what a person’s economic position, prevails.
Despite these conditions, many opportunities exist for improving both your finances and comfort levels. However, in order for this to happen, you need a plan of action. One thing is for sure: If you are in an uncomfortable position and you keep on doing what you’ve been doing, your discomfort will continue.
Start by letting your mind roam free, thinking about the possible ways that you can bring in more cash. Will you:
- Sell items that you already own
- Create a part-time business either offering a service or selling goods.
- If you are already in business, can you raise your prices or increase your customer base? Or perhaps you need to alter your offerings
- Work overtime at a current job
- Find a new job offering a higher salary
Once you choose the main strategy, break it down into small steps you can take to make it happen. These steps are tactics. You may need to do research or learn new skills in order to implement your tactics. For example, if you want to offer a product or service and you’ve never been in business for yourself, you will need to learn about sales, marketing, money management, and business planning. None of these are complicated, but you need to learn the basics.
Each day, do something new, even if you only read a book or speak to people who might be potential customers to find out what they really need. Or polish your resume, or network with others who are in a similar position. There is strength in numbers.
Stay focused in the present and realize that any thoughts you have about the future are make-believe because the future only exists in your mind. Imagining a positive future takes no more energy that imagining a negative one.
