It All Depends on How You Look At It
Wednesday, April 30th, 2008John D. and Jane W. are both seriously in debt and wonder how they will ever become solvent. Although their situations are similar, their experience is not.John feels trapped, hopeless, and fearful while Jane has decided that fear can’t help her and has moved into problem-solving mode. She sees her dilemma as a challenge and feels some excitement about the possibility of finding a creative solution.
Both John and Jane have made internal choices as to how to perceive their situation, and those choices determine the nature and outcome of their total experience. The potential for fear or excitement is not inherent in the situation. The situation is neutral, the response results from the point of view of the person involved in the drama.
