Flexibility Can Boost Your Earnings
In April, I asked if you are ready for the new reality. Each day, it becomes more apparent to me that the old order is holding on as tight as it can, making it difficult for new systems to emerge organically.
In the US, the health care debate is a perfect example of an old-style power structure holding tight to financial self-interests in order to protect the status quo, which clearly is not serving US citizens.
The same is true in the financial realm where “experts” from the same institutions who created the current crisis are in charge of the cure. Same old, same old.
The change has to come from those of us who are willing to move out of our traditional stance and stop depending on others to solve our problems for us. We need to move nimbly and fast in order to avoid being left to pick of the pieces of a failing system.
Individuals have a greater capacity to be flexible than do huge, antiquated institutions that no longer serve the greater good. If we can see beyond our own self-interests and work together for the common good, we can build a new, stronger system.
This type of activity is happening already. There was a story Monday morning on NPR about the Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They couldn’t afford to maintain one of their formal gardens, so people volunteered seeds, supplies, and labor to plant a vegetable garden. The harvest will be donated to a local food bank.
Flexibility can be the key to your financial survival in these turbulent times. If your income has fallen, perhaps it’s time to let go of what you thought was your key to building wealth. This may be the time to let go of a job or business model that no longer serves you in order to reach out in a new direction.
With flexibility, you can connect to other like-mined individuals and work together to create something new that serves others — and yourself. The Internet provides many opportunities.
What you need is:
- A willingness to let go of the old
- The determination to develop the necessary skills to function in a technology-based world
- Flexibility in your world view — the ability to bend and yield as change is foisted upon you, whether you want to change or not.
- The recognition that the power to build a comfortable life for yourself lies within you. It’s up to you to acknowledge your inner power and release it!
