You Can Help the Planet Heal

A number of people have told me that they deal with the current world situation by not listening to the news. That’s like saying, “If I close my eyes, I won’t feel the pain of my broken leg.”

Each of us is part of the whole. We are cells in the body of the planet. The country we live in could be considered one of the organs. As cells, we are affected by the health of the entire body, and in the case of The Earth, the body is ailing — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Imagine, if you will, that every time someone ingests something that harms the physical body, like refined foods, cigarette smoke, or drugs, it affects the health of the entire organism.

And because emotions are the creative force behind our life stories, imagine that every fear reaction adds to the total amount of terror, and this brings into manifestation terrorist cells, such as Al Qaeda.

And finally, imagine that hate and conflict, prejudice and violation of human rights dilutes our ability to tune into the field of consciousness that unites us and allows us to thrive.

I don’t consider any of these imaginary. I believe that how we treat ourselves and each other and the feelings we generate all affect the health of every living organism on Planet Earth. And each of us holds the key to the future health of this planet.

The question is, are you ready to play the role of healer or destroyer? If the role of healer appeals to you, are you willing to consciously help improve the physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial health of the planet by improving those within yourself?

It doesn’t take much. Small actions from a lot of people can make a big difference.

 Here’s how you can help:

  • Eat healthier foods. Instead of chowing down a gooey piece of cake or bowl of ice cream, eat a piece of fruit.
  • When you feel yourself buying into fear — financial or otherwise — take a deep breath and examine your options to see what you can do instead of wallowing in fear.
  • If you feel that something is unjust, instead of complaining, ask yourself what you can do to alter the situation. Perhaps you need to contact your local or federal legislators, or write a letter to the editor in your local paper. Complaining doesn’t change anything. Taking action does.

And if you find yourself judging yourself or others harshly, take a deep breath and imagine that the other person or you is surrounded in a lovely pink light and feelings of love.

Our future depends on our ability to live a life of love and non-injury, honoring all living things.

One Response to “You Can Help the Planet Heal”

  • Thank you Joan, I have to admit I am one of those people who does not enjoy following the news a whole lot. However, I do this not out of fear or retraction, but because I find strength in turning towards self-healing and nurturing my relationships with others. If I can be more loving to myself and others, I know I’m making a difference in the world – as it improves my ability to take necessary inspired action — such as writing the local newspaper or joining forces with others for change.

Thanks for continuing to effectively beat the drum of how our thoughts, beliefs and emotions create our personal and shared reality and experiences. I trust more and more people are starting to recognize the value of putting energy into personal growth and awareness – how our inner thoughts and feelings influence our outer world.

    peace,
    Jade
